It just amazes me how every time I pick up a new Steven King novel, it just gets better and better. The way he captures the characters, the way his story flows… even the editing is better.
The story starts with a mysterious murder, but that’s never enough for Mr. King. A bit later in the book, strange, supernatural things start happening. By themselves, these things would seem a bit farfetched, but not in this book. Everything seems copasetic, and the story rolls along. The tension builds as the pages turn, and everything impossible seems… plausible. Now, since this is a Stephen King book, the profanities are there, but like a Rembrandt, I wouldn’t change a thing. I will warn you, there are a few scenes in this book where you might want to cover your eyes and ears, but then once again, this is Stephen King.
King has been one of my favorite authors for as long as I can remember. I was never really a fan of the Mr. Mercedes line, although it still is very popular. This book was much more aligned will my liking, and I was very happy to see it hit the shelves. The plot starts out as simple, as long as a person can be in two places at once, and the ending was quite satisfying.
So, here is the bottom line… This book is a classic, Stephen King novel. There is no other writer like him on the planet, and there never will be. So, our rating for this title is 10 out of 10 stars.
